Plan your local garden-waste service

Collection season and festive changes

Up to five bags of garden waste can be placed out each week with the normal dustbin collection. Bank-holiday and Christmas arrangements follow the council’s live collection notices.

Container options

Use any strong, tied refuse sack that is not split; no special garden-waste sack is required. Do not use council-branded recycling sacks, and exclude soil, stones, bricks and rubble.

Renewal and service dates

This is a free weekly allowance rather than a subscription, so there is no renewal date. Larger quantities need a special collection or a recycling-centre visit.

Concessions and payment support

No payment concession is needed for the weekly allowance. Wandsworth also states that households receive two free bulky-waste collections each year, subject to its booking rules.

If your garden-waste collection is missed

Check the basics. Put bags in the correct place by 6.30am and check that the crew has attended the street. Report a genuine missed collection within two working days; the council aims to return within two working days.
Use the official reporting route. Reporting windows differ, so follow the live council instructions rather than waiting for the next collection.
