Collection season and festive changes
The 2026/27 permit runs to 31 March 2027, with regular collections beginning at 6am. Festive timetables and any extra seasonal collection arrangements should be checked on the live council page.
Container options
The service uses a brown wheelie bin displaying the current permit on its lid; garden-waste sacks are also offered in appropriate circumstances. Remove the expired sticker after the final March collection.
Renewal and service dates
A permit bought from 1 April to 30 September costs £76 and runs to 31 March 2027. From 1 October to 31 January the reduced remaining-year price is £38.
Concessions and payment support
The lower £38 charge is based on joining in the second half of the fixed service year, not a means-tested concession. Check the application for any other current support.

What can go in the garden-waste container?
Accepted
Grass, leaves, weeds, flowers, plants, hedge clippings, branches up to 10cm thick, prunings, twigs, windfall fruit and suitable herbivore bedding.
Not accepted
Compost bags, plant pots, garden tools, soil, rubble, turf and reportable invasive weeds such as Japanese knotweed.
When the collection service is not suitable

Suitable household garden waste can be taken to the area’s recycling-centre alternative.
Extra local guidance
Display the pink 2026/27 permit on the brown-bin lid. Permit delivery may take up to ten working days, and new-bin delivery is normally targeted within 15 working days.
