Somerset provides fortnightly collections for 50 weeks of the year, with a two-week pause after Christmas and possible severe-weather suspensions.

Concessions and payment support

The checked council guidance does not list a standard concession. Subscriptions do not auto-renew, and the council normally emails a reminder in the month before expiry.

If your garden-waste collection is missed

Check the basics. Put the 180-litre bin or booked sacks out by 7am. Report a miss after 7pm on collection day and within five working days, after checking for a tag, contamination or access issue.
Use the official reporting route. Reporting windows differ, so follow the live council instructions rather than waiting for the next collection.

What can go in the garden-waste container?

Accepted

Flowers, plants, grass cuttings, hedge trimmings, leaves, bark, invasive plants and small branches less than 15cm wide.

Not accepted

Food waste, soil, rubble, stones, plastic bags, plant pots, pet waste and ordinary household rubbish.
