Collection season and festive changes

Collections run every other week from 1 April to 31 March, apart from a two-week pause over Christmas. Havering publishes a current calendar and collection-day finder.

Container options

The subscription uses a 240-litre green wheeled bin. More than one bin can be ordered, and crews use an electronic record of active contracts rather than a sticker.

Renewal and service dates

The 2026/27 charge is £87 per bin. Contracts run from 1 April to 31 March and renewal opens in early March; a new contract can take up to three days to activate.

Concessions and payment support

The checked service page does not state a standard concession or pro-rata reduction. Confirm the full charge before joining part-way through the service year.

If your garden-waste collection is missed

Check the basics. Check that the contract has been active for at least three days and that the correct bin was presented. Then use Havering’s missed-collection report; also check its live list of delayed roads.
Use the official reporting route. Reporting windows differ, so follow the live council instructions rather than waiting for the next collection.
